I'm Dr James Fleming, a Sport Nutritionist and Senior Lecturer at St Mary's University, London, where I lead the MSc in Applied Sports Nutrition. Since 2008, I've worked at the intersection of sports science, nutrition, and performance - supporting athletes and practitioners through evidence-based strategies and education.
My experience spans elite and youth sport, with roles including Lead Performance Nutritionist for the England RFU Women's U20s and Harlequins Women RFC, alongside consultancy across rugby, football, tennis, and athletics. My doctoral research focused on fuelling adolescent athletes - an area that continues to shape both my academic and applied work.
I'm a registered SENR practitioner and ISAK Level 3 Instructor Anthropometrist, delivering international training and body composition assessments. I also co-founded the Sport Nutrition Education Network (SNEN) and launched the Fuelling Conversations Podcast, platforms dedicated to advancing practitioner knowledge through collaboration and shared learning.
Outside of work, I'm a proud dad, husband, keen tennis player, and unapologetically big Andy Murray fan.
